The second in a series, HR Highlights is a miniseries covering various core areas of HR.  This event focuses on the HR workplace. 

Join the experts for insightful sessions where you will:  

  • explore and learn about the various core areas of HR,  
  • gain insight to possible career paths and desired skills needed, and
  • how COVID-19 has affected the work in these core areas.

Mackie Jones, President/Senior Human Resources Consultant, Planning Services of Hawaii
Mackie Jones has more than 35 years of diverse experience in the US and International (fourteen 14 Countries) Human Resources, specializing in people development, strategic planning, innovative thinking, EEO Investigations, wage and hour, lobbying and leadership. Prior to moving back to Hawaii, she had a successful career in the hospitality industry domestically and internationally as well as her own HR Consulting business in California. She is an external consultant to more than 500 clients here in Hawaii, the mainland US and Internationally. She has played a supporting role in voicing the concerns of various health and welfare and pension initiatives as one of the select few who travel to Washington D.C. each year for legislative lobbying sponsored by a grant through private industry. She will be serving as Vice President of STP in 2021 for SHRM Hawaii Chapter.

Margarete Hester, Group Human Resources Manager at EAN Holdings, LLC and oversees the Talent Acquisition, Talent Development and Generalist teams on Oahu, Big Island, Maui/Molokai and Kauai.
Margarete Hester, SHRM-CP has served as a SHRM Hawaii volunteer coordinator at career fairs and is a SHRM EP Mentor. She is a member of Women United and speaks at the YWCA Job Readiness Program for Women returning to the workforce. She has over 20 years of Human Resources experience working in the United States and Canada. She is also active with the Disability:IN Chapter in Oahu that promotes disability inclusion by heightening awareness, advising corporations and sharing proven strategies for including people with disabilities in the workplace, supply chain, and marketplace.
